Efek Penambahan Ekstrak Echinaceapada Infeksi Plasmodium Berghei

Selain protektif ,  respon imun  terhadap malaria dapat memicu imunopatologi malaria. Echinacea purpurea  merupakan agen  yang  berkhasiat  meningkatkan  imunitas  melalui  fagositosis,  stimulasi  sel-sel  fibroblas,  aktivasi  respirasi  dan mobilitas leuk osit. Penelitian ini  bertujuan membuktikan efek pemberian Echinacea  pada pengobatan malaria ssecara in vivo.  Rancangan penelitian adalah pre dan  postest control  group dengan hewan coba Mus musculus strain  DDI jantan, umur 5 minggu, berat 20-25 gram sebanyak 24 ekor dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu  K- (tanpa diobati); K+ (klorokuin 10mg/kg  BB);  P1  (0,65  mg  ekstrak/ekor);  P2  (1,3  mg  ekstrak/ekor);  P3  (k ombinasi  klorokuin-ekstrak).  Parasitemia diperiksa  setiap  hari selama  5 hari setelah 24 jam  infeksi,  pemeriksaan  histologis dilakukan pada hari ke lima.  ANOVA dan Kruskall-Wallis digunakan masing-masing untuk uji perbedaan parasitemia dan gambaran histologis. Hasil menunjukkan ada  perbedaan  bermakna  penurunan  parasitemia  antar  kelompok  penelitian  (p=0,023).  Penurunan  parasitemia kelompok Echinacea bersifat lambat seperti akibat reaksi imunitas tubuh, sedangkan pada klorokuin terjadi lebih cepat. T erjadi  peningkatan  aktivitas  lien  pada  kelompok  Echinacea  dan  tidak  ada  perbedaan  gambaran  histologis  otak  antar kelompok  penelitian.  Dapat  disimpulkan  bahwa  Echinacea  memperlambat  penurunan  parasitemia  dan  memperbaiki aktivitas  lien.Downloads
